Beth Klemen Physical Therapist
Beth began her Physical Therapy career after working as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist serving individuals with special needs. While she greatly enjoyed her ability to help those with cognitive challenges, she had a strong desire to further develop her skills relative to the body’s physical performance. Influenced by her personal experiences and interests in supporting an active lifestyle, she set out to switch professions, ultimately continuing to fulfill her inherent desire to help others. Beth graduated from VCU’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in 2014 and worked for several years with Sheltering Arms in an outpatient orthopedic setting. While there, she had the opportunity to help individuals with orthopedic pain, and relative impairments, in addition to rehabilitating individuals following joint replacement and operative procedures.
When Beth found herself in need of professional services, she did her research and found that the mission and vision of Advanced Wellness Centre aligned with her personal beliefs. As a patient, she was impressed with the professionalism of the clinic staff and the unique attributes of the Physical Therapy team. It wasn't long before she made the decision to join AWC's team of highly skilled staff providing holistic care to the Richmond community. Beth finds that a hands-on, manual approach combined with addressing body mechanics, movement patterns, increasing strength, and educating patients on self care maximizes the patient's outcomes by addressing underlying impairments that are often overlooked.
Outside of work, Beth enjoys spending time with family, friends, her dog and Mother Nature. Her favorite activities include hiking, backpacking, camping, rock-climbing and kayaking.
