Aaron Grubb, NSCA-CPT

Fitness Director

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Exercise Science, Aaron is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Aaron is a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, as well as Functional Movement Screen (FMS) certified.

Aaron has amassed a 20+ year career in fitness facility management and personal training.  Before joining Advanced Wellness Centre Aaron spent 16 years in Corporate Fitness management. He joined AWC in 2016 with a very specific goal in mind. To build a fitness center and department at AWC that could work in conjunction with a wellness center committed to drug-free solutions for optimal health. One of Aaron's specialties is helping clients recover from back injuries as well as dealing with chronic back problems. Aaron also works with clients to improve athletic performance, weight loss, weight gain, strength improvement, and mobility.

In his free time Aaron enjoys being on the water fishing, weightlifting, football, and anything outdoors.

Fitness Advice from Aaron:

1)  Efficient movement is the foundation for all things physical.
2)  If you want to achieve something you must commit to a process and follow it consistently.
3)  If it doesn't challenge you it won't change you.

Aaron's Life Rules:

1)  Do at least one thing every day to improve your mind, body and spirit.
2)  Sharing your time and knowledge to help others is the greatest gift that one can give.
3)  Collect experiences......not things.
4)  Years ago, a very special person taught me that happiness is a choice and it must come from within

"I enjoy helping people push outside of their comfort zones and discover what they're truly capable of. To reach success in anything there are mental, physical, and emotional battles that must take place. You can't put a price on having someone help you through that process."

Travis Scarborough, NASM, CPT

Travis Scarborough is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and is also a certified Corrective Exercise Specialist.  He has worked with hundreds of clients to help them reach their goals, including weight loss and sports performance goals.

With a background in kickboxing, Travis successfully competed in Mixed Martial Arts.  During his free time he enjoys traveling, live music, hiking, and anything physically challenging.  Travis devotes as much free time as possible to learning the results of the newest research from the fitness industry.

Fitness Advice from Travis:

1)  Positive thinking is half the battle!
2)  Quick fixes will NEVER replace hard work and determination.
3)  Quality over Quantity, address the basics first, and reinforce proper movement patterns.

 Travis' Life Rules:

1)  You are not promised tomorrow, so make the most out of today.
2)  When given an option, there is always a better choice, choose the right one.
3)  We determine our own success, hold yourself accountable!

"The most fulfilling part of my job is helping to change the lives of others through fitness.  It is a lifelong journey that I am thankful to share with so many. "

In his free time, he enjoys anything relating to cars, surfing, snowboarding, sailing, hiking, building/fixing things and traveling.

Fitness Advice from Ryan:

2)  Do one thing every day that scares you.

Ryan’s Life Rules:

1)  Things are never as good or as bad as they first seem.
2)  If it works, keep it; if it doesn’t, get rid of it.
3)  Your perception determines your reality.
4)  You make your own fate.

“I enjoy helping people to improve the quality and duration of their life. Seeing people make gains is inspiring and creates a high degree of job satisfaction for me.”

Anne Beattie, ACE, CPT

Anne is a Richmond native and graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master’s of Science in Mass Communications. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Journalism from Radford University. In 2012, she decided to ditch her desk job and pursue her passion for fitness and helping others.  Anne acquired her personal trainer certification through ACE and group exercise certification through AFAA. Since then, she has also attained certifications in indoor cycling and Tabata Bootcamp.  Anne enjoys one-on-one personal training as well as coaching group exercise classes including spinning, strength, cardio, and HIIT.  Specializing in weight and fat loss as well as overall fitness, she really enjoys seeing her clients reach their goals.

During her free time Anne enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports (football is her favorite), working out and keeping up with all the latest fitness trends. She particularly enjoys discovering all the great restaurants in Richmond!

Fitness Advice from Anne:

1)  When seeking motivation for your workout, think in "3s". Never (ever) miss more than three days in a row and commit to 30 minutes or three miles. Chances are you will end up doing more! Using the rule of "3s" will ensure you make exercise a habit for life.

2) Set small goals that are attainable. Small changes over time turn into big results.

3)  Proper nutrition is the key to fitness. You can’t out train a bad diet..

Anne’s Life Rules:

1)  Don’t let life be your excuse, let it be your reason.

2)  Make kindness a habit. A smile or kind word can go a long way in improving someone’s day.

3)  Be present in the moment. Be thankful always.

4.)  Attitude is everything so pick a good one!

"The greatest side effects of exercise are health, wellness and improved quality of life. So, why would you not exercise?  I seriously have the best job ever...I get to help people improve their fitness level which in turn allows them to enjoy their life to the fullest!"
